This may confuse some of you, because I’m not really making fun of any specific comic here so much as the genre of IRRITATING HIPSTER COMICS ABOUT NON-THREATENING TRUST FUND PUNKS WHO LIVE IN NEW YORK OR SAN FRANCISCO AND ARE COOLER THAN YOU AND WHO LISTEN TO THE DECEMBERISTS.  Okay, it’s sort of making fun of a particular comic.  Or rather, three particular comics.  Try and guess which ones.  It’s fun!

Stupid hipsters, now I can’t listen to The Mariner’s Revenge without feeling like some sort of poser, which I am.

Her eyesockets look hollow. At first, I thought she was a zombie, but I suppose that would make her comic more understandable to ones such as myself.

  2. Agouti-Rex says:

Yeah, a lot of people seem to have come to that conclusion. Shoulda given her some pupil reflections, I guess.

  3. Nezumi says:

Well, one of them’s definitely The Devil’s Panties, judging by the name and some aspects of the art style. At a guess, one of the others might be Questionable Content. After that, I sort of run out of guesses — those are the only two comics remotely similar to this that I remember having ever read.

  4. Agouti-Rex says:

Impressive, two out three ain’t bad!

I was also taking a dig at Wapsi Square, but it’s hard to tell because there aren’t any ghosts in it and the main character’s breasts are smaller than her head.

…That damned Cadillac bitch makes me want to punch her in the face. And not like a pulled punch, I mean an El Directo jab right up her nose. I don’t see how anyone that could write a comic THAT stupid and still sleep at night. I wish Cadillac Myspace could see her while I flipped her off.

Stupid slut. Sorry, but Minivan Widescreen (Which suits her bettter) just pisses me off every time I see her. I wish I was able to blow stuff up just by touching them like Kimblee…Oh well. Nice satire, Agouti, though judging by the ‘quality’ of most things on the internet, you probably didn’t have to make much changes for the insult. I think I’ll find make a photo of Minivan Widescreen, put it in the middle of a bullseye, and get some anger out with a revolver. The Colt Single Action Army Revolver…Greatest gun ever made by the hands of Man. Never change, Agouti — We need you just as you are. Oh, and by the way — You know who Kimblee is, right?

  6. Agouti-Rex says:

Sorry, no, never heard of Kimblee. Who’s that?

  7. Calico Yorki says:

Zolf J. Kimblee, from Fullmetal Alchemist. He has tattoos of alchemical symbols on the palms of his hands that he can use to turn anything he touches (Including people) into volatile bombs. He can even do this to distant buildings, by using the ground to conduct his power to the target. Kimblee is a deranged, maniacal psychopath, and his greatest joy is causing pain, carnage and misery. He also happens to be a war criminal, but was recently reinstated as a bit of a ‘special agent’ to assist the deeply corrupted government’s other fighters. He’s my evil hero~…I’m sure we’ve all wanted to be able to just blow something up at will at one time or another. If I could do that, I would literally go mad with power.

Does Kimblee sound like the kinda guy you’d like to have as a friend if somebody’s just pissing you off? I know I would.

Kids these days and their music and baggy pants

  9. Calbeck says:

I love listening to obscure groups too. Like “Iron Maiden”, “Styx”, “Boston”…these days, ask anyone under drinking age about those bands, and you’ve entered Blank Look City.

  10. Agouti-Rex says:

    HEY EVERYBODY IT’S MUSIC TIME!

  11. Calico Yorki says:

I LOVE Styx and Boston! And throughout my teenage years, I’ve preferred classic rock and bebop jazz to modern music. Although, I also enjoy a rousing J-Pop song. I guess the sound of the singing in Japanese is just compelling to me.

  12. Poor-Wit says:

    i love questionabel content >_>

  13. Treppan says:

See, at first, I thought you were making fun of Dar.

Then I saw the three cited in the comments.

And then I realized that yes, it is an entire genre.

…Has Floebean started a comic yet? Oh, right.

  14. Agouti-Rex says:

@Treppan: Haven’t heard of Floebean or DAR, I think. What are those?

  15. crazymadjo says:

Born to multiply, born to gaze into night skies …

  16. Agouti-Rex says:

    @Crazymadjo: Music!
